A public charitable trust based in Kolkata, Vedanta Institute Kolkata is dedicated to the service of society through dissemination of Vedanta through the following avenues
- The alumni of Vedanta Academy are engaged in conducting free public weekly classes in Kolkata. They disseminate knowledge through a scientific program of study and contemplation. Encourage a spirit of enquiry. A form of liberal education that enables one to apply these principles in life.
- Students of Vedanta well trained under the alumni of Vedanta Academy are engaged in holding weekly classes for children in the age group of 5-13 years. The course content includes story-telling based on the tenets of Vedanta, chanting, community singing and value education. These classes are open for all children and conducted free of charge.
- Courses on ‘Science of Self-Management’ are conducted from time to time at educational institutions for inspiring the youth towards higher values of life. Regular sessions at service organizations like Rotary club, spiritual & cultural organizations.Devotional singing & chanting sessions for ladies and children are also conducted free of charge.
- The Trust also organizes biannual public discourses on ancient sacred scriptures in Kolkata. These discourses instill higher values among the people and inspire them towards positive way of living. These discourses are open for all seekers of knowledge.
Other Avenues of Charity:
- Distribution of books to students and other interested seekers of knowledge
- Donation to other charitable institutions promoting causes similar / related to Vedanta Institute Kolkata
- Honorarium to scholars, professors, teaching faculties who promote liberal education
- Sponsor educational tours
All donations to Vedanta Institute Kolkata are exempt u/s 80G of the Income Tax Act of India, 1961.
