Bubbles in Water

Two types of causes are essential for any creation: the material cause and the efficient cause. In the case of a pot, clay is the material cause, and the potter is the efficient cause. If both causes are the same, then the resulting creation is an illusion, like your dream, which is created by and made of your mind. The Lord is said to be the material cause and the supporter of the universe. The universe arises from Brahman, functions on the substratum of Brahman, and finally merges back into Brahman, just as bubbles arise from and merge back into water.
